Wednesday: Stationery Box

I have been waiting for weeks to share this with you! There is space in this stationery box for standard cards, 3×3″ cards, 2 1/4″ x 3″ tags, a pen, stamps, and a small note pad. (It will fit A2 envelopes, too. I just realized I didn’t put them in the picture!) It makes such a great gift. There are lots of cuts and folds, but hang with me and you’ll have one done in no time!

First gather your supplies (this list is for the box only):
2 sheets of color A for the body (AC Raspberry)
1 sheet of color B for the lid (AC Happy Happy Joy Joy)
1 sheet of color C for accent (AC Beautiful Day)
Ribbon (BB Kiwi Dot)
Adhesive (Dotto Permanent Glue)
Trimmer (Fiskars Paper Trimmer)

Take one sheet of color A and score at 3″ and 9″. Turn your sheet one quarter and score at 5″ and 7″.

Cut the long sides of the little rectangles to the next score line and glue those flaps to the inside.

Fold the top two flaps in while we score the bottom two. Score both sides at 1″. Fold on the score lines and then fold those entire flaps in while we cut the other two flaps.

Trim 1 3/4″ off both sides and then set this piece aside.

Cut another piece of color A to 8 1/2″ by 4 1/4″. This will be our big pocket. Score at 1 1/4″ on 3 sides.

Start about 1/8 of an inch outside the score lines and cut into the apex. Check out the pictures below for more detail. I drew on one corner so you could get the idea.

Apply glue to all three flaps and stick it on our first piece. Stick it to the side with the cut-off flaps like so.

Cut two more pieces from color A–5 1/2″ x 2″ and 4 1/2″ x 2″. These will be our smaller pockets. Score these at 1/2″ and 1″ on all the short sides.

Apply glue to the smallest flaps and adhere to the front of the big pocket.

Grab your color B and cut down to 10 3/8″ x 6 3/8″. Score all 4 sides at 2 1/8″.

Cut off your corners-score line to score line. Then cut up to the score apex from the two long sides. Check the picture if that’s confusing.

Now grab your color C and cut 3 pieces to 2×6 and 2 pieces to 2×2. Glue them onto your lid.

Apply glue to the triangles and fold in. Tie some ribbon around the lid, if you’d like.

Fold up the base, pop the top on, and we’re done with the box!

Roll up a small scrap for the pen loop and use another scrap for the stamp pocket. The size of your stamps will determine how big the pocket needs to be. I made a small notepad, too. Have fun with it. Add your own flair!

Thank you Jackie Topa for allowing use of your basic idea.

Come back tomorrow for Jolene’s challenge!
